Difference between garden pump with safepump function and automatic domestic water pump with integrated pressure switch:
Garden pumps with safepump function do not have a pressure switch that switches the pump on when water is required, unlike automatic domestic water heaters and domestic waterworks.
The garden pumps (Art. 1734 and Art. 1736) have a safepump function. By means of a flow sensor, the garden pump switches itself off for protection, e.g. in the event of dry running or if the pump is not switched off manually after water extraction is complete. If the safepump function responds, the garden pump must be restarted using the on/off button.
A minimum flow rate of 90 l/h is required for the flow sensor to detect water extraction. When using a garden pump with safepump function and the Micro-Drip system, this safepump function may respond depending on the nozzles/drippers used.
Automatic domestic water pumps (Art. 1757 / 1758 / 1759 / 1760 and older models) also have an electronic pressure switch that starts the pump when water is drawn off and stops it as soon as this is stopped. As with the garden pumps, a minimum flow rate of 90 l/h is required so that the flow sensor can detect that water is being drawn off.
Automatic domestic water systems are usually permanently installed in or on a building. The drip water warning is only integrated in automatic domestic water heaters. The dripping water warning switches off the automatic domestic water system if a leak is suspected on the pressure side (water withdrawal side).
Installation example of electric pressure switch - Art. 1739 -
on a GARDENA garden pump 5000/5 - Art. 1734 or 6000/6 - Art. 1736
If an electric pressure switch is installed on a garden pump, you get an automatic function on the pump (function like an automatic domestic water system).
When installing the pressure switch Art. 1739 on the garden pumps Art. 1734 or 1736, the special mode of the garden pump must be activated. The same applies to the use of electronic timers.
The special mode bypasses the on/off switch of the pump and sets it to "permanently on". This means that external control devices such as pressure switches, timers or float switches can be used to control the pump.
Activate special mode:
1. press and hold the On/Off button for 8 seconds when switching on until the green LED stops flashing.
2. the special mode is activated
Deactivate special mode:
1. insert the mains plug into a live mains socket. The pump starts automatically.
2. press the On/Off button. Pump switches off.
3. press and hold the On/Off button for 8 seconds when switching on until the green LED stops flashing.
4. special mode is deactivated.
